For the past 10 years I've been taking my students to the Shakespeare Festival at Ashland, Oregon. This year we saw three plays: Our Town, The Clay Cart and The Comedy of Errors.
It's pretty safe to say The Comedy of Errors was the all around favorite among the kids.
It was set as a Western musical and it was brilliantly staged and hilarously executed.
These pictures should bring back memories for my older kids. The first is in the Courtyard in front of the Elizabethan Theatre. The second is in front of the fountain of delicious "healing waters". It's tradition. You have to drink from them. The third is inside Big Town Hero, the sandwich shop we always eat at when we first arrive. Ashland is a four and a half hour drive from Portland, but probably only two or three from the Orland-Red Bluff area. It's a fun town with a rich history of the performing arts. I highly recommend you take a trip there sometime.
It's one of the highlights of our school year!
